Common Foot and Lower Limb Problems

Common Foot and Lower Limb Problems

Most people who book in at our Rosanna clinic arrive with one of a fairly short list of problems. Below is what we see most often, grouped the way a podiatrist thinks about them, with a page on each explaining the cause, how we assess it and what treatment involves.

If what is bothering you is not listed, call reception on (03) 9457 2336. We will tell you honestly whether podiatry is the right place to start.

You do not need a referral to book. One is only needed if you are claiming through Medicare on a GP chronic condition management plan, which pays a rebate of $63.40 per visit with a gap.

Foot problems

Skin and nail problems

  • Ingrown Toenails – from simple conservative care through to permanent nail surgery.
  • Toenail Fungus – what actually clears it, including Clearanail and topical options.
  • Tinea Unguium – fungal nail infection – diagnosis matters before treatment starts.
  • Tinea / Athlete’s Foot – itchy, peeling skin between the toes and how to stop it recurring.
  • Corns & Calluses – painless removal, and fixing the pressure that caused them.
  • Warts – plantar warts and the treatment options that work.

Leg and knee problems

  • Shin Splints – shin pain from running and load, and the foot mechanics behind it.
