  • Brittle and splitting nails
  • Horizontal ridges
  • Discoloured nails

So what is this Nail Restoration solution and how does this toenail treatment work?

Similar to a dentist bonding a tooth, KeryFlex Nail Restoration treatment is a podiatry procedure in which a resin material is applied and hardened with a special light “bonding” the material to the nail to restore or improve the nail appearance.

Once the KeryFlex treatment is bound to the nail, your foot care provider can smooth and shape the nail to appear natural. The KeryFlex Nail Restoration treatment can be done in a single visit at our clinic with one of our experienced Podiatrists.

KeryFlex Nail Restoration treatment is a painless, in-clinic application that restores the appearance of an individual’s natural nails.

The KeryFlex cosmetic therapy system allows for a certified foot care provider (i.e. Bellevue Podiatry) to remodel an individual’s damaged nails affected by fungal nail, defects or trauma.

The KeryFlex composite resin treatment creates a flexible, but durable, non-porous nail that allows the remaining natural nail to grow.

The Kery Flex nail treatment is an immediate cosmetic improvement providing a natural-looking nail. It is unaffected by acetone, nail polishes or detergents.

Kery Flex Nail Restoration Solution FAQ

What is Kery Flex?

The appearance of a person’s natural nails can be restored with the help and care of the painless in-podiatry clinic single appointment treatment KeryFlex.

These specialised treatments enable a licenced foot care specialist to repair a person’s damaged nails on their feet caused by fungus, defects, or trauma.

The composite resin podiatry treatment produces a flexible, resilient, non-porous nail that promotes the growth of the remaining natural nail.

The KeryFlex nail treatment offers a natural-looking nail and is an instant cosmetic improvement  for your feet that is applied in one podiatry appointment.

How long does it take to apply Kery Flex?

Depending on how many nails need to be rebuilt may have an impact on the number of podiatry treatments.

A podiatry professional can apply KeryFlex Bonding Agent, KeryFlex Resin, and KeryFlex Sealant in 15 to 30 minutes, including UV light curing time.

The podiatry treatment is safe, painless and walk in / walk out of our podiatry clinic.

After Kery Flex is applied, how soon must an individual return?

The time between podiatry treatment applications will vary depending on the person, but generally speaking, the time is 6 to 8 weeks. A KeryFlex nail may very rarely separate from the natural nail. Repeated trauma to the KeryFlex nail may result in this. For instance, when a person is long-distance running, or wearing tight footwear, the nail edge may extend past the tip of the toe and become damaged.  This may result in an assessment of the nail and footwear being required to ensure no further damage to the cosmetic nail.

Who should not use Kery Flex?

Not everyone should use KeryFlex. Podiatry patients with peripheral vascular disease, arterial insufficiency, peripheral neuropathy, suspicious pigmented nail lesions, or ingrown toenails shouldn’t use the KeryFlex Nail Restoration treatment.

Podiatry patients who are pregnant, nursing, or known to be sensitive to or allergic to any of its ingredients should avoid using the treatment. If you want to know if the KeryFlex Nail Restoration treatment is right for you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Podiatry Clinic on (03) 9457 2336 or book online for an assessment.

How does a Kery Flex nail differ from an acrylic nail?

Because acrylic nails are stiff, they do not bend with toes as they move normally.

Because of this, acrylic nails applied to toenails may harm the tissue layer beneath the nail and even cause pain to the nail bed. Strong acids are also used to apply acrylic nails, which irritate the nail bed and can further harm an already damaged nail.

KeryFlex is made specifically for the toes and is both flexible and strong. It doesn’t contain the harsh acids found in salon treatment systems. Since Keryflex is non-porous, moisture cannot pass through and get between the natural and artificial nails. Piroctone, an antifungal ingredient containing hydroxypyridone, is infused into the medical-grade resin from KeryFlex.

Can nail polish be applied over a new Kery Flex nail?

Acetone, nail polish, and detergents have no effect on a KeryFlex nail.

After the KeryFlex sealant has dried and the remaining dispersion film has been cleaned off with alcohol, nail polish can be used right away.

KeryFlex toenail treatment is designed so nail polish can be applied without damaging the KeryFlex nails treatment.

How is a Kery Flex nail removed?

Permanent bonding occurs between a KeryFlex nail and the natural nail with this treatment. An electric drill can be used by to file the artificial nail until it is separated from the natural nail before it is removed by a podiatry professional.  In the rare instance the KeryFlex nail needs to be removed, you would book an appointment with a Podiatrist to safely assist.

Is Kery Flex a cure for fungal infections?

No. KeryFlex is an aesthetic pedicure treatment procedure that is intended to enhance the appearance of toenails that have been distorted by fungal nail and other nail conditions that do not require nail surgery.

The KeryFlex treatment is not a cure for fungal toenail or ingrown nails that may require toenail surgery or some other form of podiatry care.

Can Kery Flex be trimmed by regular nail trimmers or do patients have to return to a foot care provider for professional trimming?

To keep a KeryFlex nail at its normal length, it should be filed with a nail file or emery board.

The KeryFlex nail shouldn’t be clipped or cut.  The care and treatment KeryFlex recieves from you will extend its useful life length.

There is no need to book an appointment for trimming your cosmetic KeryFlex nail.
